Bethia and Mört release "It Don't Faze Me"

2020 saw Reading based artist Bethia and RnB/electronic producer Mört on the rise as they release “Pt 1”, a collaborative EP. Achieving over 200,000 streams on Spotify alone, Bethia went on to release 3 solo singles as welll as an impressive following on TikTok. In this exciting new track of 'It Don't Faze Me', Bethia and Mört return with a second dose of collaborative magic.

With influences including the likes of Urban Flora and Baraz’s most recent album “It Was Divine”, "It Don't Faze Me" solidifies its space amongst modern RnB classics. A track that explores the emotions of a complicated and exhilarating love, it evokes imagery of Romeo and Juliet; a love that may be dangerous but worth every moment. Bethia's sensual yet soothing vocals easily reveal her nonchalant view of the consequences of commitment. Accompanied by production infused with RnB and electronic textures, the track alludes to a sense of passion and freedom. We don't doubt Bethia and Mört's listeners will be similarly enthralled by this enchanting new track.

"The song reflects the idea of falling for someone more than you thought you would. There may be bumps along the way if you choose to commit to them but you just can’t deny that “young and free” feeling they give you. None of your worries seem to matter in your moments together."

Interview:

"It Don’t Faze Me" is a seductive and smooth track, what was the inspiration behind this track?

Sonically, it's inspired by the Urban Flora EP by Alina Baraz and Galimatias. Mört and I both love this EP and wanted to write something with a similar feel but of course give it our own flavour. Lyrically it reflects the idea of falling for someone more than you thought you would. There may be bumps along the way if you choose to commit to them but you just can’t deny that “young and free” feeling they give you and none of your worries seem to matter in your moments together.

You’ve gained half a million views on TikTok as well as over 400k streams on Spotify and Apple Music, what has all the support been like?

It's been really amazing. I feel so grateful to have been able to connect with so many new people who enjoy what I'm doing as an artist. I receive lovely messages daily from people all over the world saying that they love my music and that it has helped them in some way or another. It just gives me that drive to keep releasing better material!

In 2020 you teamed up with Producer/ Artist Mört to create your collaborative project

"Pt 1”, what was the process of making the EP like?

It was such an exciting time for me. Mört and I enjoy a lot of the same artist such as Lolo Zouaï, H.E.R, Ariana Grande, KAYTRANADA etc. so it made sense to collaborate. It felt like a step in the right direct artistically as I really wanted move into a more R&B sound as that was the music I was listening so heavily to at the time.

You’ve been gigging your original music since 2017. When did you realise that music was something you wanted to do?

I'm aware this is going to sound very cliché but music has always been my dream. Whenever anyone asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up, it was always "a pop star" and that still hasn't changed! When I was 5 years old, I use to listen to a CD called Pop Princess on repeat and copy all the choreography from the music videos. I then started writing my own songs at the age of 12 which became such an emotional outlet for me.

What’s next for you?

There is a lot more music in the pipeline so stay tuned for that but for now you can listen to mine and Mört's new single "It Don't Faze Me" on all major streaming platforms! I'm hoping that we will be able to perform it all live very soon. I'm also keen to keep exploring my skills as a songwriter and write with more of my favourite up and coming artists for their own projects as that's something I have loved doing during lockdown over zoom.
